Techniques to ease your worry

" Our life is what our thoughts make it ",Marcus Aurelius summed in eight words. Norman Vincent Peale shared a deep truth when he said." You are not what you think you are; but what you think, you are ." Life is too short to be little. Often we allow ourselves to be upset by small things we should despise and forget. Here we are on this earth, with only a few decades to live, and we lose many irreplaceable hours brooding over grievances that, in a year's time, will be forgotten by us and everybody. Now let us devote our life to worth-while actions and feelings, to great thoughts, real affections and enduring undertakings. For life is too short to be little. First technique to deal with worry is the magic formula of Welis H. Carrier a) Ask yourself what is the worst thing that can possibly happen if I can't solve my problem? b) Prepare yourself mentally to accept the worst - if necessary. Accepting the worst allows your mind to think clearly. c) Calmly try t...

Unwinding 'The Untethered soul' 02

Did you remind yourself to filter through your thoughts? Did you keep reminding yourself that you are not the voice inside your head? Find a quick recap of the first chapter of the book , here . Second chapter titled 'your inner roommate' He talks about the voice inside the head at length. The voice inside the head is similar to having a roommate in your head. When we are disturbed by a problem, instead of asking, " What should I do about it?" , we should ask, "What part of me is being disturbed by this?" This causes you to look inside and see that there's a part of you having problem with this and separates you  from the disturbance. This act of maintaining objective awareness of the inner problem is better than losing ourselves in the outer situation. Nobody has ever truly become okay by changing things outside. There's always the next problem. The only real solution is to take the seat of consciousness and we do this by separating ourselves from t...

Clipped Wings

Have you forgotten to live?  How often do you have carefree laughs? When are you going to let your dreams breathe? This world tells you, "Show me the heart unfettered by foolish dreams and I'll show you a happy man." You have to reply with "But only in their dreams can men be truly free. 'Twas always thus and always thus will be." Words and ideas can change the world. Now you may think that 19th century literature has nothing to do with medical and engineering. But let me in you on a secret: We don't read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. Medicine law business engineering: these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain lives. Poetry, beauty, romance, love : these are what we stay alive for. Romance, love, poetry and beauty are what we are alive for. And you say you are afraid to fall in love. You are afraid to end up with a broken heart and ...

Recover : Finding you

Recovery is a process from unawareness to awareness about self. It is about finding your true self, what you are meant to be, understanding who you are. These are from  Russell Brand's book, ' Recovery: Freedom from Addiction'. This book will take you on a journey towards deeper parts of you. It will help you understand yourself, your behavior, your thoughts and emotions. It is like standing in front of a mirror that shows beyond your physical body. I think it is a part of being human, to carry a wound,a flaw and again, paradoxically, it is only by accepting it that we can progress. Oddly, counterintuitively, in our culture of individualism and self-centered valour, it is by surrendering that we can begin to succeed. It is by admitting that we have no power that we can begin the process of accessing all the power we will ever need. Pain is a signal, it's some aspect of us that's beyond our somewhat narrow conception of self, communicating. A pain in the leg means ...

Message from 'The Alchemist'

Image
The Alchemist is a fantasy-fiction book by Paulo Coelho. It created a powerful impact on me and I am sharing the lines that will hopefully impact you too.   "People learn, early in their lives, what is their reason for being. Maybe that's why they give up on it so early, too. But that's the way it is." "If you start out by promising what you don't even have yet, you'll lose your desire to work towards getting it." "Intuition is really a sudden immersion of the soul into the universal current for life, where the histories of all people are connected, and we are able to know everything, because its all written there.' "Before a dream is realized, the soul of the world tests everything that was learned along the way.It does this not because it is evil, but o that we can in addition to realizing our dreams, master the lessons we've learned as we've moved toward that dream. That's the point at which most people give up. It's th...

Jay Shetty on finding your passion

Image
Wishing, waiting and wanting is the state in which we spend most of our times. Let's change it now. When water is still, you can see into it clearly. Similarly, when things slow down and they are still, you get greater clarity. We may identify certain areas of our life that don't fulfill us. In this uncertain time we are getting the time to slow down, let us gain clarity. I let Jay Shetty guide me towards my passion in a podcast. He outlines four steps to get started with the process: 1. Overcoming overthinking and procrastination 2. Two paths towards your passion 3.value of strategy, expertise 4. Regret(getting into action) 1. Overthinking We spend so much time thinking that we never get into action. Jay procrastinated for 2 years before he launched his first video.First, lets remove a misconception. We think distraction is stopping us from moving forward. But it is an attraction issue. We are simply not very attracted to the thing so we don't do it. Think about it. Do w...

Pitbull's guide to life

Throwing your way ball of Pitbull motivation. We are aware of Pitbull's success in Rap industry. Not many might know that he grew around drugs, abuse, pimps and yet,he turned his life  around. Armando Christian Perez, a.k.a. Pitbull was onto something when he said, there's no losing, only learning. there's no failure, only opportunities. there's no problems, only solutions. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything. If you don't know where you are from, you don't know where you are going. Let it sink. He believes that ,in the music industry, 90% is business and 10% is talent. Spanish translation of talent is talento  but ta lento ,in spanish, means too slow. So you see if you get locked up in the talent side for long, you will get sucked in the business and just become another statistic, instead of creating your business and making it big. His perspective on success? Patience, passion, perseverance equals success. Succeed is making it.  S...

Write me a poem

In a weather that reminds me of love,I want to present to you a heart touching love story of two prime numbers. You will find it easier to relate to it.  In the poem, I like how brilliantly the creator has used quirky characteristics of number that fits humans too. It has mathematical equation that symbolizes truth. Every time I read it, I am struck by the use of words. I don't want to keep you from it anymore. Please, get mesmerized :) "Prime Time Loving" (I like it better than "59") 59 wakes up on the wrong side of the bed. Realizes all his hair is on one side of his head. Takes just under a minute to work out that it’s because of the way that he slept. He finds some clothes and gets dressed. He can’t help but look in the mirror and be subtly impressed How he looks rough around the edges and yet casually messed. And as he glances out the window, he sees the sight that he gets blessed with of 60 from across the street. Now 60 was beautiful. With per...

Holding Hands

Image
"Those fingers entwined held a promise. It is about maintaining contact and speaking without words. To silently convey that 'I am here for you'. To silently seek comfort when one doesn't have words to voice their distress. It is about telling each other to stay. The gesture of holding hands is not just something lovers do, it is something they share. Really, that mere touch can share fear, anxiety, love, trust, understanding, security, support. When you will hold 'his' hand you will have this feeling of perfect moment and something inside you will make you wanna hold onto it, stay and not let go, just yet." share via whatsapp

Unwinding 'The Untethered soul' -01

Image
Okay, brace yourselves because we are embarking on a journey of self awareness. I believe this book is going to help me understand 'Who am I?' . The book by Micheal A. Singer is a book in spiritual genre according to me contrary  to Google's categorization of it in 'self-help'. The book as described by Deepak chopra 'takes you step-by-step through the process of Gyana , the yoga of intellect, to the Source.' If you want to understand yourself , need to 'soul-search' , if you have spent nights wondering what are you other than composition of cells, tissues and organs, or is there a meaning behind this life, or if you are on a self-awareness and consciousness journey, or if you are simply curious or want to read a spiritual book, then I strongly recommend reading this book 'The Untethered Soul'. Now, I will share my thoughts on the ideas in the chapter as I read along. I have sometimes felt absence of a reading partner with whom I could d...

Russell Brand's guide to life

Image
"Do you have that sense that something is missing? A feeling in your gut that you're not good enough? That if you tick off some action, whether it's eating a Twix, buying shoes, smoking a joint or getting a good job, you will feel better?" I happened to attend the Virtual Success Summit hosted by Tony Robbins where popular stars have shared their messages like Tom Brady, Jay Shetty, Russell Brand, Will.I.AM , Pitbull   and many others. I have summarized the learnings from Russell Brand's message which can inspire us all. In his talk, he brilliantly makes us aware of our dependencies and shares his life journey. Here is what I learn from him, We adapt to the misery of an unloving home, of unfulfilling work, of empty friendships and lacquered alienation. The 12 step program will change the life of anyone who embraces it. If your personal pattern happens to be the addiction equivalent of the 'long form con-trick' , as opposed to a 'short grift', it ...
